Brooks E. Kleber Memorial Readings in American History The U.S. Army Heritage and Education Center sponsors a public readings series, the Brooks E. Kleber Memorial Readings in Military History. The series features recent works by noted authors on a variety of historical topics. The series honors the memory of Dr. Brooks E. Kleber, former U.S. Army Assistant Chief of Military History (CMH). Dr. Kleber served as the Deputy Chief Historian, CMH and Chief Historian, Continental Army Command (later Training and Doctrine Command). During World War II, Dr. Kleber was assigned to the 90th Infantry Division in the European Theater of Operations. He was captured shortly after D-Day and was interned until the end of the war, later becoming one of the Army's foremost authorities on prisoners of war. He was inducted into the Infantry Hall of Fame and retired from the U.S. Army Reserve as a colonel. A 1940 graduate of Dickinson College, Kleber held an M.A. and a Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania. All lectures are held in Ridgway Hall, the Army Heritage and Education Center building at Carlisle Barracks, 950 Soldiers Drive, Carlisle, PA 17013. The Lecture begins at 7:15 p.m., doors opening at 6:30 p.m. For additional information contact the VEC Chief of Education Services, Michael Lynch This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
