In recognition of the U.S. Army’s 235th Birthday, the Army Heritage Center Foundation is pleased to announce its partnership with CA Technologies and its support of the construction and outfitting of the first phase of the Foundation’s 37,000 square foot Visitor and Education Center. CA Technologies, a global information technology management software company, has partnered with the Foundation since 2005, and with a recent grant will provide a total contribution of over $150,000. “The generous support from CA Technologies towards development of this focal point on the U.S. Army Heritage and Education Center (USAHEC) campus will ensure that the personal stories of individual Soldiers live on generation to generation,” affirmed Army Heritage Center Foundation Board President, Major General Robert Diamond, USA Retired. The USAHEC, located in Carlisle, PA along with the Army War College, shares Soldiers’ stories through their personal narratives, exhibits, and artifacts. The Center includes a research library housing more than 11 million manuscripts and more than 1.5 million photos ranging from the beginning of photography up to digital media from current operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. The collection includes images from Spanish American, Philippine Insurrection, World Wars I and II, the Indian Wars, Korea, Vietnam, Cold War and Persian Gulf. The Army Heritage Center Foundation coordinates a public-private partnership that seeks to expand the USAHEC campus and programs. The Foundation has achieved its first goal of funding Phase One of the Visitor and Education Center—a $12 million capital project that will open to the public in 2011. Phase One of the Visitor and Education Center will provide a 37,000 square foot facility that will include the USAHEC's first exhibit and interpretive gallery and urgently needed public space for educational programs, veterans’ reunions, and other public gatherings. Phase One will also include a store and other support services for visitors. The construction of Phase One of the Visitor and Education Center was funded through donations from numerous private individuals, corporations and foundations as well as grants and other financial support from Cumberland County, Pennsylvania and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. “CA Technologies is proud to support our military veterans and to help shine a light on the sacrifices they have made for our country,” said George Fischer, executive vice president, Global Sales, Client Services & Marketing, CA Technologies. “By partnering with the Army Heritage Center Foundation, we will preserve the history of our armed forces so that future generations will understand and recognize the enormous contributions they have made.” The USAHEC is open to the public for tours and for research.
