The Army Heritage Center Foundation is pleased to announce that BAE Systems has donated $100,000 to support the Foundation’s efforts to build the second phase of the Foundation-funded Visitor and Education Center at the U.S. Army Heritage and Education Center (USAHEC). BAE Systems is the second largest global defense and security company with over 100,000 employees worldwide and has partnered with the Foundation since 2008 to grow the campus and its exhibits. “The generous support from BAE Systems towards development of this focal point of the USAHEC campus will ensure that the personal stories of individual Soldiers live on generation to generation,” affirmed Army Heritage Center Foundation Board President, Major General Robert Diamond, USA Retired.
The Army Heritage Center Foundation coordinates a public-private partnership that seeks to expand the USAHEC campus and programs. The Foundation has achieved its first goal of funding, building and proffering to the U.S. Army Phase One of the Visitor and Education Center—a $12 million capital project that opened to the public in May 2011. Phase Two of the Visitor and Education Center will provide the planned additional 37,000 square feet that will include the USAHEC's second rotating interpretive gallery and urgently needed public space for educational programs, veterans’ reunions, and other public gatherings. Phase Two will also include other support services for visitors. The construction of Phase Two of the Visitor and Education Center will be funded through donations from private individuals, corporations and foundations. The USAHEC is open to the public for tours and for research. See www.usahec.org for hours and directions. |
