Kleber Society Fund

The Kleber Society recognizes those individuals and corporations who donate on an annual basis to support educational programs at the Army Heritage Center Foundation. The Society is named in honor of Dr. Brooks Kleber. Dr. Kleber was a graduate of Dickinson College in Carlisle and held an M.A. and a Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania. He served as Chief Historian, Army Training and Doctrine Command and as the Deputy Chief Historian, US Army Center of Military History. As a young man, he served as a Soldier in the 99th Division during WWII and was captured soon after D-Day in 1944. While a POW, he so valued learning that when he and his fellow prisoners were moved from one camp to another he carried two history books with him rather than seeing them destroyed.

The Kleber Society support allows the Foundation’s educational staff to work with high school students in the “school to careers” program and university student interns pursuing history, education or communicative arts degrees. The Kleber Society also supports the Foundation’s efforts in support of National History Day and special programs and educational products for teachers, students, and the public.

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania has approved the Foundation as a provider of innovative educational programs. Corporations who pay taxes in Pennsylvania may receive tax credits for donations made to approved Foundation programs through the Commonwealth’s Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program.
