Over sixty living historians will be on hand in their period garb to answer questions, talk about their upcoming events, discuss the finer points of the re-enacting world, and show off their weapons and artifacts.  One Civil War era team will even display a mountain howitzer artillery piece.  From horse cavalry to Wehrmacht medics, the sheer diversity of periods represented is sure to entertain children and hard-core historians alike. Each participating organization will also present short talks about their history and some will even perform live demonstrations of the manual of arms from their period, troop movements, and battlefield medical techniques.  If weather permits, there will be outdoor demonstrations, as well.

The second annual Re-enactor Recruiting Day is free and open to the public.  USAHEC’s main exhibit, “The Soldier Experience,” will be open, as will the museum store and Café Cumberland.  Parking is free.  For directions to USAHEC, a download of the event flier, and general information about USAHEC and upcoming events, please visit www.usahec.org.  For questions, please call: 717-245-3972.
