Description
Silas T. Grisamore was born in Indiana in 1825 and later moved to Louisiana in 1846. He was a successful merchant selling goods from a flatboat that navigated the waterways of the southern part of Louisana. As the Civil War began, he enlisted with the LaFourche Creoles, later known as Company G of the 18th quartermaster with the 18th Louisana then moving to an infantry division. After the war, he wrote a series of reminiscences about his experiences and of his fellow soldiers.
