On the night of October 3, 1993, American soldiers fought one of the most intense urban battles since Vietnam. Immortalized in the film Black Hawk Down, the Battle of Mogadishu became a defining moment in modern military history—and a symbol of courage, sacrifice, and brotherhood.
Join the Army Heritage Center Foundation, AUSA Redstone-Huntsville Chapter, the U.S. Veterans Memorial Museum, and our media sponsor WAAY-31 in Huntsville on Thursday, October 2, 2025 for An Evening in Mogadishu, a powerful dinner and panel discussion featuring elite veterans of that harrowing mission:
- Mike Durant – Former Black Hawk pilot and POW
- Dan Jollota – Former 160th SOAR pilot
- Norman “Hoot” Hooten – Delta Force operator
- Keni Thomas – Army Ranger and country music artist
- Bob Witzler – Combat veteran and eyewitness
This once-in-a-generation gathering will provide a rare opportunity to hear firsthand reflections from those who were there—what they endured, what they remember, and what they carry with them still.
Proceeds from the evening will support the expansion of the U.S. Veterans Memorial Museum in Huntsville and the Army Heritage Center Foundation’s national mission to preserve soldier stories and strengthen civilian-military ties.
Seats are limited. Join us as we honor their legacy—and ensure that the lessons of Mogadishu are never forgotten.
