Teacher Workshop – Black Hawk Down and the Mission to Feed Somalia – May 12, 2023

What began as a humanitarian mission to feed starving people morphed into a manhunt for a warlord and ended in a desperate mission to rescue Americans trapped behind enemy lines.  This workshop will explore the justification, conduct, and consequences of Operation Restore Hope and Gothic Serpent and expand your content-knowledge of U.S. military interventions in the post-Cold War era.  Teachers can chose between attending in person or via Zoom.  Teachers can receive Act 48 credit or a letter documenting PD hours.

COL (R) Lee Van Arsdale, a veteran of the battle, will join us to discuss his experiences on the ground.
